McLeod Loris Fitness Challenge

Loris, SC

During the early 1990’s, McLeod Sports Medicine established the McLeod Sports Medicine Heart Challenge, a Florence area community-based USATF certified 5K and 10K run/walk where participants were able to be involved in a race that would benefit personal health. The Heart Challenge was also established to raise money for the McLeod Athletic Excellence Award. The award was soon renamed the Geoffrey Kier Memorial Athletic Excellence Scholarship to honor the memory of the former McLeod employee who died of meningitis in 1998. Today, this race continues the tradition of raising money for deserving student-athletes in the Florence community. Geoffrey’s parents’, Frank and Sally, continue to donate to the scholarship fund to keep their sons’ memory alive.

New for 2016, McLeod is expanding its efforts into a three race series to include Dillon, SC, and Loris, SC.  The race in Loris is a run/walk in Loris at the Center for Health & Fitness. All monies raised will go to the Children's Miracle Network, benefitting McLeod Loris Seacoast Children's Services. Finisher medals will be unique to this McLeod race series. When placed together they will form the state of South Carolina. You won't want to miss out on this unique medal.

Awards will be given to overall top 3 Males and top 3 Females. In addition, medals will be awarded for the top 3 in each age division. Participant must be present to receive awards or make prior arrangements with race director.
